Travelling to France in January...

Hi all,

I was due to travel to France for the weekend a the end of January. I booked hotel and flights separately. Due to the current advice Im thinking of cancelling the trip as we wont be able to quarantine/ probably wont be able to enter the country as our trip was just to sightsee etc.
The tour operator who I booked the hotel with has said their is a £100 penalty for the hotel booking which seems fair enough however Im struggling to get any response from the travel agent I booked the flights with (Opodo), can anyone please offer me any advise where I would stand regarding cancelling the flights. The return flight has been cancelled (but I dont think this is due to covid) and I've been booked onto a later flight with the same airline - approx 4 hours later. Where do I stand with getting my money back for the cancelled return flight and would I be entitled to a refund of the outbound flight too (essentially cancelling my entire trip).

I'm afraid you are in some difficulty now. Opodo are pretty useless and they will charge you a fee.

Read their terms for details of the refund you can get.

The rules could change five times between now and then. Wait until nearer the time.

Hi all, 

Thanks for the helpful points raised in this thread - we also have some info in our France travel rights MSE News story.

In terms of the above scenario re. return leg flights, if the flights were booked on the same booking and one leg is cancelled - you should be refunded for both legs eg, the total booking.
