Would you buy a house with a pedestrian crossing outside?

For Christmas, my local authority has put a pedestrian crossing outside. Am not happy as was not consulted and would have objected, not to the crossing as such but the placing of the lights which, is outside my bedroom window. 5 or 10 feet away from the house and it would not have caused any problem. I've also lost my on road parking but have a drive so not so bad. But.... I don't want to live here, I was hoping to move in the spring. I like the house, nice village, not a lot of people but it holds sad memories for me plus other things. The LA say the right words, such as turning the beeps down, will not used much outside of rush hour (true) and so on. I can't do anything about it but realistically who would want to buy a house with a pedestrian crossing outside?

There's a lot of worse things that could be outside your house.6

Not sure - but if the road's busy enough to need a crossing, that will probably already have ruled out those sensitive to the noise. Is it already in use and do you know how much of a difference it makes?3

I lived in a house with a postbox outside for a few years. Never gave it a thought before we moved in but afterwards, what a nightmare! People always stopping their cars with engines running while they posted something. Plus at Christmas it was ten times worse, all times of day and night and our bedroom was at the front. Couldn't ever have the window open if we wanted to sleep. People don't use post quite so much now but I do know that that postbox is still well-used.
It could be much worse in that you could have a bus stop outside. Often they are just placed outside people's houses without any notice too.
If you have double glazing, it shouldn't affect you too much? You could get blackout curtains for the lights.
To be honest, many people really do not care about what's outside. I do now - but only because of the postbox house.

We bought one with a crossing outside and don't even realise most of the time. We're out at peak times though, and it is our first home so we knew we had to compromise on some things.
As long as there aren't tons of other issues with the property I wouldn't expect it to be a deal breaker.1 -

There is an alley that leads to a small school but the main reason for the crossing is a disabled chap who contacted the councillor as he struggles to cross the road as the vehicles often go too fast (20mph limit), people ride horses up and down so it's not that bad. it's just the actual siting that has got to me and I daresay if I have been aware at the planning stage they might have agreed to site it those few feet away instead of so close outside my window, small front garden. Plus it narrows an already narrow footpath. Their research suggests I will only hear beeping/engine noise during the rush hour period and probably nothing after 7 or 8pm. I might have to put up with a green glow in my house if the shroud prevents drivers from seeing the lights though. I just don't think anyone will buy it but, time will tell.0 -
