Thanks for reaching out about your affordability insights. We’ve passed along your feedback to our developers who are working hard to categorise these transactions better.

As we look into this for you, remember that these insights can only be seen by you and won’t be visible to banks/lenders. These insights can also change daily as we get your up to date information from your linked bank accounts.

I hope this clears things up. Let me know if you have any other questions

In answer to your last question I'm guessing lenders won't see it given what ClearScore have said to you above.
  • I personally wouldn't have bothered using open banking to give access to Clearscore - it's primarily a data gathering exercise on their part and in my mind offers very little value to consumers. The "scores" they provide you are not seen by lenders, nor are the underlying data they use to generate those scores, so there's little to worry about in terms of their error messing up your chances for future credit applications. Personally I'd just revoke the sharing permissions and avoid the issue entirely.
  • I have only been able to link accounts that I never use (Natwest and RBS) but not the bank accounts I use on a daily basis (Starling Bank and Chase). This makes them think I have a disposable income under £250, which isn't true. It's frustrating that my affordability score is 30 even though I'm financially in great shape!

:) It doesn't matter what your affordability score is. Clearscore don't get to decide your affordability.
