Should I claim?

How much impact would making a claim for a lost iPhone have on my future premiums? The thing is, I made a subsidence claim this year, so my premiums are already affected. Would my subsidence claim mean that any subsequent claims might have a disproportionately large impact? Minus excess I stand to get £350 for the lost phone. Thanks.

Additional claims would have a compounding impact but in comparison to a subsidence claim will be relatively modest... your issue now however is you cannot shop around and so if they decided to load your premiums by £300 a year for the additional claim your choices would be to pay it or not be insured (and the consequences that will have for your mortgage etc).

In reality you will never know what element of a price increase is related to subsidence and which is related to the phone.

I assume you have checked your policy and confirmed that "loss" is an insured peril?
