Amazon gift card for using the Barclays app? Is it a scam?

Hey everyone,

I just received an email from barclaysapp@myglobaloptions.com saying that for registering with the Barclays app I can redeem a £10 Amazon gift card. The email seems shady but the thing is that I actually did register for the app last week and the message starts with "Dear {my actual name}".

It told me to go a link that starts with egift.activationspot.com which showed my gift card code and then to go and redeem it on amazon.co.uk. I got the code but I am kind of nervous to activate it.

Is this actually legit? because I can't seem to find anything about it online.

  • If you have got as far as receiving the Amazon code, then what have you got to lose now to try and redeem it?

Following the email link in the first place, if you thought it was suspicious, would have been the fail point.

Most Amazon will do is say code not valid, if it isn't.

It was actually a valid code.
