Kitchen installation

I'm working through a quote for a new kitchen. The fitter has quoted £4,500 for removing the old kitchen, appliances, tiling and flooring, replastering, minor plumbing, adding an electrical socket, installing 17 Howdens kitchen units (2 full height ones include), 6 new appliances and a new floor. I'd like to understand approximately how many days of work this represents, so I can work out whether we're getting decent value for money.

Have you asked the fitter how long he estimates the work to take? He has seen your kitchen & fully understands the work involved, which nobody on this forum will have done. The cost doesn't sound too bad to me at all for what you've mentioned.
Also, costs can vary greatly depending on where in the country you are. The SE for instance will have higher prices than those charged up north.
Remember, a decent kitchen fitter can make a cheap kitchen look fab, but a bad one can make a costly kitchen look like a budget one, so price alone shouldn't be the deciding point.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Does this also include disposal of your old kitchen?"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

Disposal of commercial waste is expensive these days and is likely to be several hundred pounds for cabinets, old plaster and flooring etc etc. If you think his quote is high get others as comparison.

Sorry what part of the country are you based: Would definitely take yours now.
I've just got a quote for this work in South east London?
Remove and dispose of existing kitchen, including flooring, wall tiles and wallpaper
* Plaster kitchen ceiling (estimate does not include plaster to walls if required)
* Paint and decorate walls and ceiling
* Install 11 cupboards
* Install 6 appliances
* Install under cupboard lighting
* Fit 4 shelves
* Install laminate flooring
* Supply and fit new Consumer Unit (I have shown my Electrician a photo of your Consumer Unit and he recommends installing a new ring main, just for the kitchen and a cooker radial. This work is included in this estimate.)
* Certify electrical work undertaken
Dining Room
* Remove and dispose of flooring and wall paper
* Prepare walls and ceiling for re-decoration
* Paint walls and ceiling.
Garage
* Install washing machine and tumble dryer
* Install worktop, sink and taps
Total £9,110.00

I'm in the same process of looking for a new kitchen, but we are likely to go to B&Q (operating under the name DIY Kitchens).
Reasonable price for what you get I think to include plastering and tiling (through my local tradesman fitter).
Other places quoted around £8k+ - and that includes fitting but not plastering and tiling.1
