Mobile suggestions for not tech savvy parents in their 70s

Looking for some help from anyone knowledgeable on mobiles (NOT TOUCHSCREENS) who won't be sales pitching me like if I go to a shop haha I've been looking online but my brain is hurting now.

I'm looking to buy mum and dad new phones for Xmas. They're in their 70s and not very tech-savvy. No smartphones/touchscreens - ye olde keypads only! I'm looking to spend under £60 each (seems doable and they do have other gifts coming haha)

Dad: He barely uses his - just phone, text, good camera, and I'd like him to be able to get Skype.

Mum: Uses hers more but only really does phone and text. A camera is only needed as I'd also like her to be able to get Skype. I am open to her being able to access Whatsapp - although may regret that within a week. She is dyslexic if this affects any suggestions.

Any suggestions people can make would be greatly appreciated!

I think you are looking for a unicorn there 😀

You say not a smart phone but then want WhatsApp and Skype which you will only find on a smartphone - eg Android / iOS.

As for text messages, touchscreen phones are much more friendly for typing than using buttons.

And then a good camera for under £60 is really wishful thinking.

Smartphones are not complicated, phones are getting increasingly easy to use with feature like voice activation and dictation to avoid even pressing anything.

Imagine your Dad saying “Hey Siri, send a text to John to wish him a merry Christmas” without pressing a single button!

That is many times easier than a phone with buttons on.

The best bet is a smart phone. That will give you camera, bigger (onscreen) keyboard and also internet for Skype.

Does the Nokia 3310 have Skype?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Some of the doro phones have whatsapp, but check what features are supported. AFAIK the
kaios app for whatsapp does support voice calls but not video calls.

My parents (in their 80s) have been using Doro phones for a number of years. My mum has never got on well with technology but can manage to send texts and make calls with her Doro. The phone she has is a bit like a Doro 1360. My dad upgraded to the Doro 8040 smarthphone last year and has some simple apps for online shopping.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
