No shock really given that Germany (under pressure from the US et al) is refusing to approve the new Russia to Germany gas pipeline.

Remember, Tracker prices are not wholly representative of future fixed deals but they are a good indication of the direct of travel re wholesale prices.

Surely no one is still on this tracker

Gas is capped at maximun 6pkwh with standing charge about 10p/11p a day cheaper than fixed, whilst I would not recommend it for winter months it is cheaper than current Loyalty Octopus 12 month fixed gas rate that some customers are changing to.
Electriicity capped at  maximum 30pkwh rate, no oblgation to be on same tariff for both fuels or in fact have both fuels with Octopus

... and both those caps (6p gas, 30p electricity) are potentially lower than the April Ofgem cap. We'll find out in mid-Feb.

Is a tracker allowed to exceed the capped price?  I know that fixed deals are excluded, but I don't know whether tracker ones are or not.  The scenario we are in, where wholesale exceeds the cap, was not meant to happen!

But when cap the tracker cap change? At least it’s capped I guess still glad to not be on it as I’m paying less than half of the tracker cap, it was a risk I went on it and didn’t gain as prices kept going uo
those on it in 2020 didn’t do badly, i joined that party too late.

Think that’s been answered above seems to have its own cap which is currently higher than the normal cap but not as high as April cap is predicted to be.
  • My gas charges are currently 6.39p so above that amount!!
  • I was only with octopus tracker for electricity 30p kwh would be almost bankrupting and double what I’m paying so for me approx £160 a month yikes 😳
