So I think you’ll find this interesting although probably heard it before..
so we’ve sold our house to first time buyers who are happy to wait (thankfully!).
so we’ve sold our house to first time buyers who are happy to wait (thankfully!).
The house we want and had offer accepted for their asking price £400,000 in September 21. We’ve viewed twice and despite them not finding their house yet we have only enquired how they’re getting on a few times. We’re happy to wait and as Christmas we were going to check in with them in late Jan/feb.
When we viewed the 2nd time the man told us this story about how they once found a house & the owner asked for more money from them which they were not impressed about. We agreed, that’s not great.
Last week we had a phonecall from the estate agent. The couple are going to take the house off (it’s already off as we’re meant to be buying it!) and resell in Feb at a higher price. They haven’t asked to negotiate more money just telling us they’re stopping everything.
We’ve got a solicitor & paid for a valuation luckily no more.
The crazy part is we actually could negotiate slightly more for less hassle of finding somewhere new but with this odd couple?!
I think it’s shockingly rude!
Thoughts?

You,ll know what Proudhon said about property....0

Run don’t walk. I’ve learnt the hard way that if vendors look you in the eye and say one thing and do another it’s a RED flag and worse is yet to come.3

If you're feeling sufficiently aggrieved, string them along. Make an increased offer, while at the same time (obviously) instructing your solicitor to take no further action as yet/run up no further costs.Meanwhile start viewing other properties via different agents.Terrible behaviour (theirs!) but legally nothing you can do.0

I hope they never sell. What greed.0

I was once buying a house that had been on for months with several agents. They were lucky to get us as buyers. Just before the survey (after searches etc), they decided they wanted another ten grand and put it back on the market.
Idiots!
Unlike you, there's no way I would've considered buying it!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0
