Virgin voucher

Hi, sadly we have decided to cancel our family holiday to the USA next month. Virgin holidays say I have up to 3 weeks before flight to either change holiday dates or except a voucher….A cash refund is not an option, apparently.VH are telling me all vouchers are atol protected but then I’m reading they are not if virgin go bust down the road. I’ve also read I can insist on a cash refund. Any advice on taking a voucher and potential problems I could come across? Thanks.

  • As you have decided to cancel, you are not entitled to a cash refund. 
    ( You would be entitled to a refund if VH had cancelled.) 

    With Virgin Holiday’s flexible booking policy, if you change your mind you can change the dates, the destination with no admin fees. ( which is a lot better than a lot of companies ). If the holiday you book costs more you’ll have to pay the extra, if the cost of the holiday decreases, then they say they will refund the difference.

    If you don’t want to book another holiday now, you have the option to  cancel your holiday and receive a holiday vouchers instead.

    As above - only if Virgin cancel.

    Virgin may cancel. And in view of what Boris has said today that could very well be a possibility.

    If the voucher is to be ATOL protected, it must be issued by next Monday 20th December. The CAA has confirmed they will not protect any Refund Credit Notes issued after that date, and ATOL protection, if they were to fail, will expire at the end of September next year, so you need to have booked a new holiday before then to keep ATOL protection
  • I think they do give a refund but it takes as long as 6 months. So they insist on the voucher.

    I think this was possibly in the past. Not so now.
