My Travel Airline- In flight payment taken twice.

Can anyone help please.

My son has been charged twice for goods he bought on his return flight. This has made him incur bank charges totally £116. I have sent all the proof of the charges to My Travel. My Travel have said they will repay him the amount charged twice but have not yet agreed to pay the bank charges. They told me this morning that a supervisor will have to look at it.

If they don't pay the charges, who do I get in touch with. Can I contact ABTA of FSA?

Any help will be appreciated

not sure about the travel organisations. you may find them a minefield to negotiate given the nature of your complaint. finding the right person to talk to might cost you even more in phone bills. i don't know this from experience, just how my brain works :o

i would suggest calling trading standards/citizen's advice. they might be better to advise if you have a claim, and how best to go about getting it.

as far as common sense goes, he should really get everything back that he lost because My Travel took more than they were legally allowed to.

    good luck!

    Hi Niraig
My Travel charged me twice too. They put through the same transaction three months apart - it was only a small amount so could have been overlooked by some people (not me, cos I watch my statements like a hawk). I queried it with my credit card company and the credit card company refunded me and have told My Travel what they have done - they have a few months or so to query it.
Refunding him the duplicate charge is the least they can do. DEFINATELY follow this up - if your son has incurred charges as a direct result of their duplication then keep fighting till they pay the charges too.
    Good Luck!!

Report it immediately to the credit card issuer and explain what you have doen regarding getting a refund. I presume the double debit put him over his credit limit but even so £116 seems excessive. My Travel Airlines is not governed by ABTA so there is no point reporting to them. MT should pay any reasonable expenses incurred but he would have to show that it was only the double debit that caused the additional charges, if there was anything else at all they will deny liability.

spea to your bank. if you ask nicely and this is a one off it has been knon for them to be reasonable and waiver the fee.

it should certainly be the first port of call

Sorry it's taken so long to update this, been abroad. My son has been fully reimbursed by Mytravel Airlines for all banks charges that he incurred, plus the refund of the duplicate payment

This may be cynical of me but if they did this to everyone I'm sure they'd still be in profit from the people who didn't notice ;)
