  • Technically buyers/sellers can pay the SDLT themselves direct to HMRC but often they are forced to do this through the solicitors. You have 28 days to pay it after the completion of the purchase.

    The solicitor will have to run money laundering checks on the family member giving you the money.

    Not if they need a mortgage. It'll have to be paid via solicitor.

    Correct.  There is 14 days from completion to pay it, not 28.
