This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning, it's a frosty start here.I meant to post yesterday, and somehow didn't, not a lot to report though. We returned from our little break on the N Yorks coast on Thursday, after having had a really nice couple of days. There's not a lot going on here, the usual shopping, washing, and might manage a bit of ironing, can't stand the excitement!!I would like to go to Dun*lm to get one of those long doormats for inside the front door, we have one down but I would like another for when that's in the wash. If we don't go today there's always tomorrow.I was with a few friends last night, at one of their houses, it was nice to see them for general chit chat, it's good to catch up.I hope everyone is ok - thoughts to the poorly people, and anyone with relatives who are ill.Take care folks14

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off Scarlet, it's good that you had a good time.
Lovely to hear about your beloved Dad Coxy, such a relief.Yesterday I didn't go up to Oban, the weather turned a bit nasty, the sky became almost black and there was a heavy and prolonged hailstorm which left the roads white. I went out for my bread order and that was enough. As I was still lying in bed yesterday morning I watched the sky turn from white cloud to red, it was very odd. There was a large band of this redness with blue-grey cloud under it. I watched as it turned back to white again.Today I will have to do the shopping then cook up somethings for during the week. That'll keep me out of mischief for a while. 😀
Happy Saturday to all.14 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET for starting us off. It's darker than ever this morning and despite them saying it would be milder this w/e they must have forgotten to tell our little corner. It's brrr!
I have got a bit mixed up (I blame my age!) I could have sworn it was the 2 younger DGDs dance school concert today. It's actually dress rehearsals today and concert tomorrow! But the way the virus is going rampant around here plans can change at a minute's notice.
I'm not bothering with my early trip into town this morning as there is nothing I am desperate for and I have a sm delivery due Monday anyway which I can still add to. So I'm going to do some batch cooking today. Although where I think it will go is another matter. I'm sure someone comes in the garage at night and purposely musses both freezers up as, once again, they are in turmoil so I need to sort them out yet again.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, convalescing or bereaved. We have quite a few on here just now with a poorly family member so thinking of you all, . Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning All
Cold and wet again today, washing can stay inside, maybe me too!
I had my booster yesterday afternoon, the jab itself really hurt. I have a bit of a sore arm and feel very tired (maybe because I woke up at 4) but I think I feel ok generally.
DD and the little one are coming over today so had better get organised, shopping to do before that and a quick visit to the allotment to say hello.
Hope your little one copes ok dp1, poor little love has had more than her fair share of troubles.
Thinking of your Dads Coxy and NRA, it's a worrying time for you.
Glad you enjoyed your break Scarlett, always good to get away.
DGS is fine, complaining that he couldn't go to school yesterday as 'there's nothing wrong'. I'm planning on going up to see them tomorrow if the weather's OK. Will call into friends on the way to drop off their Christmas gift.
Hope you all have a good Saturday, take care.XX12 -
beautiful red sunrise here. Just treated myself to scrambled egg on toast for breakfast, much enjoyed.
Decided I am going to sort through my sock drawer today, the excitement! A lot of my socks are uncomfortable because my ankles swell so they can go. Have just bought some soft top ones which are much better.
struggled to order a new pair of trousers and a jumper for Christmas, so many sizes not available. Hoping to also get rid of some tops that I never wear to free up a bit of space.
Hope everyone has a good day.9 -
Good morning all, early for once! Looking very grey outside and due to rain today, after a bright sunny day yesterday.
Dragged OH out into town to carry shopping with the reward of a lovely breakfast out, they do a buy 3 get 1 free weekdays for their breakfasts and they are so delish, just a bit of a change from going out at lunchtime occasionally.
Another bit of good news this week, youngest GS has passed his practical driving test first attempt.
Thank you for the new thread Scarlett pleased you had a good break. Marie so pleased to see your post a few days ago.
Thinking of Coxy and NRA's DDads, dp1's darling little GD and all who are poorly, sad or propping up others that are.
Back to sorting "stuff" and doing a SM order for next week, may try and make some GF bread if I have all the ingredients, fed up with the bought stuff and I know I have chicken portions and minced steak to cook and freeze, trouble is OH takes over the kitchen on a Saturday with the newspaper and Any Questions and Any Answers on R4, kitchen is very small and he is most comfortable perched at the breakfast bar rather than in the lounge or dining table, drives me bonkers, but he is so great at helping me with so many other things these days, I just try and smile and work round him.
Take care, hugs and spoons to all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -

Going to make a sausage and mixed bean casserole in the slow cooker soon so thats dinner for a couple of days sorted with some crusty bread.
Volunteer call to do then I can continue with the chill fest
The local rotary came round last night with their lovely nativity and carols. Its a sure sign of Christmas for me.
I guess I should sort some cards out today and a couple of gifts I need to buy.
Hoping NRAs dad got treated OK in the end
Have a good day all

Morning everyone
Thank you so much for all the good wishes regarding little one - she came to help me decorate my Christmas tree yesterday and stayed for tea. DD showed me how to fit the tubes to her nose when she picked her up - little one was a little tearful but ok - DD and I were trying hard to be positive. She had only fussed a little when the oxygen was connected when she went to bed and went straight to sleep. Bless her, she now has that and her tube feed all night. But she's happy and could have much worse things wrong with her I know.
Coxy and NRA - wishing both your dads the best - that was a terrible wait for an ambulance!
I had my booster jab on Thursday after work - feel very achy, sore arm and so tired - but kept waking up through the night. I was so glad I'd taken the day off yesterday as I slept all morning. Planning a quiet day today - hopefully I'll get my Christmas cards written and the front bedroom tidied for eldest DD coming home on Friday. I realised that the space the Christmas tree goes now has a chair , a kitchen and little one's chair in it - so that's all sitting in the bedroom. I need to move little one's bed into my room too.
Hopefully I'll be ok to go down to mam and dads tomorrow.
Hoping everyone has a good day today - Maddie may -DD and I enjoy going out for breakfast too - we have a couple of cafes in town that do a lovely breakfast x11 -
Morning all
Dry here for now but rain due this afternoon,I have put a towel wash on but that will have to go on the airer in the lounge the log burner will get it dry in no time.
Had to come home from work at lunchtime yesterday as I had an upset tummy
ive been pretty much tied to the loo all night and feel wiped out so today will be a day of rest in front of the tv, I am supposed to be going out with the girls for a meal tonight but cant face the thought of eating anything so I have had to cancel, its a shame as I was really looking forward to it.
OH will go and collect the shopping at lunch time. My lovely dd wrapped most of my presents yesterday so I only have hers to do, I may do some while watching a film later, will see how I feel.
Thimking of Coxy ans NRA dad xx
DP1 sending hugs to little one she has been through such a lot bless her xxx
Have good days all xxx11
