I ordered mine from Boots and it arrived 2 days before I left the UK so was waiting for me when I got back.

I just had to put the order number on the PLF before I boarded the return flight.

My guess is that if I had tested positive on arrival they would have passed the order number over to whoever, who would have used it to locate my PLF and thus the flight details etc

Yes, it's so incredibly irritating how unclear it is. I don't understand why they even ask you for your flight details - how is it any of their business? I want to order tests in advance so I have them waiting at home and can book last minute trips without the faff and worry over whether the Day 2 test will arrive on time or not and likewise, I want to take the LFT with me to ensure I don't need to faff about trying to find a provider abroad. I can go off on holiday knowing the tests are all sorted and in my possession.

I don't understand why they make it so bloody confusing.
The flight details are so, if a test is positive they can contact those who were on that  flight.
Surely that contact process will be driven off PLF data rather than information held by test providers?
As far as I'm aware it is.

The DfH passes this to the airline who is supposed to contact the passengers additionally to Test and Trace.

At least that's the theory, I'm aware of cases where this hasn't been done.

Just reading this to see if people had any alternative advice as my kits fall over the blackout too.

When I ordered on amazon they didn't ask for any flight details or anything personal. I could get it delivered tomorrow no questions asked. Not sure why you're seeing issues!
I was looking at the Amazon ones, but they had a disclaimer on there that you couldn't register and send the kits back over the Christmas period and between 30 December and 2 January because of Royal Mail closing down... So I'm not sure if that will affect you? We would be arriving back on the 30th so I'm not sure we can use the Amazon kits ourselves...

The only days the Priority Bpxes are not collected in Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Used a company called Covid Travel Clinics. Ordered on 2.12.21. Was not delivered in time for our arrival (Day 0). It is now Day 3 and we have been notified by DHL that they have our parcel, which is scheduled for delivery on... 25th December.

We are spending Christmas with our family in Ireland, flying out early on the 24th. Their failure to dispatch it in time to ensure it was here waiting for us has caused a very stressful 4 day delay, and a panicky 72 hours ahead facing the prospect of not being able to fly on Christmas Eve.

It seems they have been inundated with complaints and bad reviews in recent days, culminating in this report in the Guardian.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/17/bradford-gp-behind-covid-test-firms-scores-unhappy-customers

Their statement (dated 17.12.21) claims "we are not experiencing any delays". If that were true, our tests would have been here by 18.12.21. We have been forced to purchase alternative test kits from Boots, which we are sending off this afternoon.

If they get held up in the post, it will mean a journey to East Midlands airport on 23rd.

So that's £70 to CTC, another £120+ to Boots, plus potentially another £130+ on top.

    Shambles.

  • @Backbiter sounds like a nightmare !

In regards to the Gov list - The gov.uk website says

“If you’ve ordered tests and there’s a problem.

For example, if they have not arrived or you do not have your results.

You can make a complaint about a test provider.

    https://enquiries.test-and-trace.nhs.uk/s/enquiries “

Based on the complaints received through this official channel The Gov have investigated and removed dozens of companies from the list for  failing to provide the standard of service required.

Had and email from test and trace today, which said the following. I have contacted the company and given feedback to the UK Gov't.:

    Your PCR test kit(s)

If you purchased your PCR test kit(s) from the NHS and have not received it, you should call 119. If you purchased your PCR test kit(s) from a private provider and have not received it, please contact your provider as soon as possible. Feedback on the service delivered by private test providers can be emailed to the UK Government at:

Well, the tests have now arrived. As I stated, DHL yesterday told us they'd be delivered on the 25th, so we were forced to buy alternative tests from Boots, as we need the results for an 8am flight on the 24th.
I am sure the 4-day delay in delivering them is covered by their Ts and Cs, so we can only hope for a goodwill gesture from the company.

The Boots tests we posted yesterday are now being processed in the lab. Very speedy service. Thanks Royal Mail and Boots.
