They have taken £15 a month out of my account for the last seven months, a membership I am totally unaware of.  Complained to customer service and complained to Claudia. Totally unhelpful, who insisted I took out the membership automatically by purchasing a £3.84 book. She refused to give me a refund or any manager's name except 'Mary'. She tells me I had an automatic membership that I had agreed to.  I did no such thing.  There is nothing in my email correspondence about membership to Buuks.co.uk. Claudia tells me that I need to log in to create an account, but to date, it would not let me in the first instance.  I thought if I had an account and an incorrect password it would let me change the password.  The site just kept coming up with an error on the account in Danish.  This tells me I don't have an account with them, or they are preventing access in the hope I will ignore them taking £15 a month. The site in May 2021 hid any details of or did not put into plain sight their membership commitments.  I signed in as a guest with no intention of a membership.  The site has no contact address and no apparent legal presence in the UK to sue them you have to go to Denmark. Claudia insisted contact only by their email address which just takes you back to Claudia again or the like.  They are total scam artists.

I have a similar experience from the same company. Since 13th April 2021 for a book costing £6.99 they have automatically taken £15 per month over 13 months, costing £195. That is a pure scam. I am not the only one suffering this way; there are many of your other customers who have been similarly duped.
According to your record my Grand daughter is your member, she was six years old in April 2021! The company took no to ensure she had the correct authority to sign up as a member? Why then were they taking money from my account? Any membership has an associated benefit, over the last 13 month what benefit did my Grand daughter or I receive ? The short answer is none!
So for a book costing £6,99 they have taken another £195 and that is a scam.

you will find other threads on here with the same complaint

    BUT

The terms and Conditions state  you confirm that you are over 18 years old.

It also  states beside the member's price price that if you order at the member's price you automatically become a member.

Why did your granddaughter have assess to your bank details? This is against bank rules.

How was she able to access the website and buy a book  with your details?

Why have you not noticed the money being deducted from your account for 13 months?

You refer to 'your' records but this isn't Buuks, this is just a consumer forum it should have been made clear when you signed up. If you read the rest of the thread it can only have been you that signed  your granddaughter up for the membership and having given them your permission to take the membership fee they took it from the account you gave them.

Firstly make sure you get it cancelled immediately before they take any more, you could try for a goodwill gesture from them but they didn't dupe you you just didn't read exactly what you signed up for . The internet is a great place for buying things but you really must read anything put in front of you when you do so, there are a lot of 'membership' type websites and many hide the sign up bit behind another click - and some are much more expensive than this.

    No scam.
    Just user error.

This has been debated on many threads.
It had been demonstrated many times that BUUKS website is very clear about membership and the cost.

If they have taken the membership fee for 13 months before you noticed, it may be a good idea to check your bank statements more closely and/or more often.

Not a scam but you got a discount on other books.

So your GG registered for Buuks membership, how did she get your details like card number. Hang on so since April 2021 the money has been taken out of your account, do you check your accounts on a regular basis ?
