They have taken £15 a month out of my account for the last seven months, a membership I am totally unaware of. Complained to customer service and complained to Claudia. Totally unhelpful, who insisted I took out the membership automatically by purchasing a £3.84 book. She refused to give me a refund or any manager's name except 'Mary'. She tells me I had an automatic membership that I had agreed to. I did no such thing. There is nothing in my email correspondence about membership to Buuks.co.uk. Claudia tells me that I need to log in to create an account, but to date, it would not let me in the first instance. I thought if I had an account and an incorrect password it would let me change the password. The site just kept coming up with an error on the account in Danish. This tells me I don't have an account with them, or they are preventing access in the hope I will ignore them taking £15 a month. The site in May 2021 hid any details of or did not put into plain sight their membership commitments. I signed in as a guest with no intention of a membership. The site has no contact address and no apparent legal presence in the UK to sue them you have to go to Denmark. Claudia insisted contact only by their email address which just takes you back to Claudia again or the like. They are total scam artists.

Have you tried to cancel their authority with your bank? The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Looks like a sign up membership which rolls automatically from your first purchase.
Does say the membership isn't binding & you can cancel anytime after the first month.1 -
The price is shown as 'member's price' with a separate non member's price underneath.
The 'i' icon beside the member price explains it is for members only and by buying at the member price you are subscribing to a membership of £15 pm.
I guess you didn't read that bit.
It is also explained when you scroll down the page to
What is Buuks?Buuks.co.uk, was established for those who love books and want to pay the best prices for them. For £15 a month our members can buy the latest arrivals, bestsellers, classics and many more in all genres - at cost price!

When I was younger and made a mistake with a clearly identified subscription service, I put my hands up and learnt from my mistake - now it's just instantly labelled as a scam, without any hint of personal responsibility.8

The people who bought a book from this website at 'membership prices' and feel they have been scammed insist there is nothing about membership on the website.
The people who have looked at the Buuks websites and commented on that thread you have linked to can clearly see that there is.
From the other thread:Pollycat said:If you click on the 'i', you get the message that £16.20 is the member's price and if you purchase at member's price you will be automatically subscribed as a member at £15 per month. The information really is there. If people don't bother to read it there is every chance that they will be 'scammed' (or 'ripped-off' or 'conned') by other websites.3 -
Is it a case of 'should have gone to SpecSavers'?Past caring about first world problems.2

Its also on a big banner on the main page, says how much the membership is, don't know how long its been there for.1

Although one poster said "Anyone doing a search which leads directly to another page on the site would miss it.
It's not even visible on the home page all the time, it's on a slider which means it's only visible one third of the time." it's very clear to those who read the information on the website properly what this company is about.1
