Hotpoint freezer

Purchased in 2017, now some fan or something on, running constantly. Have gone to Appliances direct, quoting Consumer Rights Act, and they’ve told me to obtain an independent report on the fault, at my own cost and then send them it.
does this have to be at my own cost?
cheers 😊

Initially, yes. If it is determined that the issue is caused by a fault in the original build, then the cost of the report can be reclaimed.bunnyfuller said:does this have to be at my own cost?

If you're getting someone it to look at it, it might be worth asking them how much would it cost to repair?0 -
Yes but if its found to be an inherent fault causing the break down AO will have to refund any reasonable report costs and then provide a remedy, either repair, replacement or refund, obviously taking into consideration the age off the unit and reducing the refund accordingly0

Why would AO get involved ??Vendor Is Appliances Direct .0

So the saga continues…
let down by the first engineer, the second doesn’t turn up either but tells me over the phone to ‘cut the little rubber pipe at the bottom’. Yes, and completely invalidate any possible recovery from this.
was rather happy yesterday to see I had got my credit back from Igloo and it was in my new Eon account. Then tonight see it has been eaten up by a bloody £400 electric charges for December! I am assuming this will be thanks to the damn freezer so tomorrow doing some checks to see if it is the freezer or a crazy electric meter. That little windfall was too good to be true 🙄😣0 -
Worth looking for a Hotpoint forum to see if this is a common fault.0

When our 5 year old Hotpoint fridge/freezer went wrong I rang their help line and was told it would be best to start a maintenance plan, minimum time 1 year and they came and did lots of work, new door, new shelf, new feet and more. I then cancelled after 1 year.0

No way can a freezer rack up anywhere near £400 of electricity in a month even if it is running flat out 24/7.bunnyfuller said:So the saga continues…

Assuming it is using 300W, in the unlikely situation where it was drawing that amount of power all of the time, I would expect the monthly cost to be around £45 @ 21p per kWh.0 -
Agreed. I suspect the large electricity bill is a result of an estimated or mistaken reading somewhere along the line.Keep_pedalling said:
