That's just marketing - you'll have been added to their email list as soon as you gave them your email address.

I expect the dealership are deciding what to do - they *may* decide to let you have the warranty for the lower price as a goodwill gesture to secure the sale (if they think you'll back out if they don't), or they may stick to their guns and insist on the actual price.

However, you can't force them to go through with the sale at the incorrect price, they are entitled to cancel it.
  • It comes down to a simple question of how much you want to buy the car and how willing you are to walk away.

They want to charge you an extra £800 because of their error.  So it looks to me like you've got £800 to haggle around.

You might want to split the difference with them or you may want another £800 off the purchase price.  Or perhaps they can offer some other acceptable solution...

Do you know the terms of the warranty and what it does (or more importantly does NOT) cover?  Is it going to be worth paying £1500 to provide that cover for three years?

Probably worth considering that - assuming you still want the car - showing that you are willing to be flexible and to negotiate a mutually acceptable solution is probably more likely to get you something you can live with than being inflexible.  If you insist on paying the original (incorrect) price, they might just pull out - putting you back to square one.

It's a Mercedes warranty, valid at any dealer.

Just to add, the dealer has now agreed to honour the original price.
Good result - I guess the profit from the sale was greater than the price difference so they figured it best to not risk you backing out.
