How to tile the step

Wondering if anyone can suggest an approach to fixing my front door step. It's painted but each year I have to re-paint it. Does the forum think it might be easy enough to put non slip exterior tiles on the top surfaces, or is there another simpler solution to the problem?

Define "easy enough".It's not hard, but you'll have to strip the paint and it's better to use either paving slabs or big outdoor porcelain tiles that, most likely will need cutting (easy done with right tools). The steps are made of slabs, aren't they? Why were they painted in the first place?1

to make them look better, but the paint just isn't doing the job- tried many different makes as well
maybe I'll just scrape it off then use a power washerEarly retired in summer 2018 and loving it0 -
It seems an unnecessary chore to keep painting it.Exposed to the elements and footfall paint isn't going to work. The concrete slabs are going to expand, contract and the paint soften in rain.I wonder why you feel that nice clean slabs are not looking nice? I quite like mine and they blend with the path - or gravel in your case.If you want to put non slip tiles on top have you investigated the size? I'm thinking that you would need 4 of the current shape ones which would leave you with a mortared criss cross that is going to get dirt in it.And you'd have a different pattern top and bottom due to the differing size of the steps

Try some of this stuff......Yorkshire trading sell small tins £1.49 ish and it would take 2 tins,it is very thick and gritty so use a cheap £1 brush to paint it on.Very hard wearing i did our front and back doors 2 years ago and they both still look as good

I think bare concrete would look better, and require less maintenance. who painted it in the first place and why?

If you don't want bare slabs, get some decorative ones like Indian sandstone or whatever and that way it will look "better"1
