Hot water for washing up, GasCentralHeating or electricKettle which better for environment/Co2

While not an issue of personal cost I wonder if the kettle is better for the planet (CO2 wise) as I am trying to use less energy.
Our combi boiler is in the garage 9 metres from the hot water tank which is then some 8 metres from the kitchen sink (which is next to the electric kettle)
It takes 3 litres of cold water before the hot water comes through to my tap so for small amounts say a mugfull for a saucepan this seems a no brainer.
Any scientific views would be much appreciated

If you're concerned for the planet or for your wallet, don't wash up a single saucepan. A single large load of washing up has the potential more efficient in hot water and soap than lots of little ones.

  • They say a dishwasher uses less energy than washing up in the sink.

Remember that if you run the hot tap then don't use it again for an hour or two then you will have wasted the energy used to heat the 3 litres of water left in the pipes.

We use the kettle water to wash up a small amount of dishes, just over fill it a small amount when making a cuppa.
Definitely use the boiler hot water for a big wash up (bowl full)
Bought a cheap hob kettle this week to make cuppas via heating with gas, put the electric kettle away. Also we heat/cook food via an halogen cooker, taken that away too and just using the gas now. It's an experiment, hopefully we will using less expensive electric, time will tell 🤔
