I'm really sorry LG, but it looks like you have been scammed.
It's hard to find a bright side to this, BUT:-
You weren't physically injured.
Some people have hired fitters who have ripped out the old bathroom, then walked off the job.
So, realistically, you need to write off this quite large sum of money and move on with your life as best you can. We all make mistakes, especially when we are at a low ebb. So, really do your best to try not to beat yourself up about it.

It really is upsetting. How can people get away with having their company shut down and then starting up another one when they have clearly had some kind of prior issue that caused the shut down in the first place? Why should consumers suffer because of this?1
