International Travel - Pre Departure Test for Entering the UK

Good morning,
In light of the recent changes by the UK Government on international travel especially with the re-introduction of the pre-departure Covid Test before travelling back to UK, i understand that a lateral flow test or PCR test needs to be done 48hours before departure. What it is not very clear, is whether, the test can be purchased in the Country where I am staying or needs to be bought from UK testing providers. For example, I am flying back from Italy, so can I use a PCR or Lateral Antigen Test bought there or I need to buy one in UK before I get to Italy? Any ideas? Thanks

Either is ok. Same as we did earlier on in the year, so if it's more convenient/cheaper/both to source it in Italy then do that. They are £15 here (UK) so that's a benchmark for you to gauge it. .1
