Energy switch help :(

Hi all, hoping someone may have some advice. I'm currently with bulb but am moving home and they have said they don't cover my new area so I need to find another provider... issue being the awful rates at the moment. I went on a comparison site and I'm looking at an extra £80 a month! I'm about to go on to my statutory maternity pay and in 3 months I will be down to nil pay. I'm really panicking about being able to afford the change and with a 3 month old I know I can't just put up with being cold. I know its an awful time but could anyone give me any advice or am I stuck having to pay more?

  • It's actually very simple.  When you move home you inherit the incumbent supplier that the previous house occupant was using and you will be placed on their standard variable rate tariff initially.  At present you won't do better than that so don't be persuaded to change.  On the day you move in read the meter(s) then contact the incumbent supplier(s).
