Just noticed I'm not paying class 2 NIC's, confused...

Hi all,
I've just submitted my self assessment online and noticed something strange.
In my final calculation I've noticed I'm not paying any class 2 NIC's, not a penny. I've looked through my previous two self assessments and I've noticed the same thing.
In each of these years I've earned at least £18,000 in profit so am I right in thinking that I should have paid Class 2 NIC for these years?
I amended this years tax return in an attempt to pay it but HMRC won't allow me to pay class 2 NIC as I'm over their £6500 voluntary payment threshold but they also calculate this to be £0.00.
This feels like a mistake to me? Am I being a moron or is something wrong here?
Thanks

This is a common problem, most likely caused by registering for self assessment rather than self employment. You should have completed a form CWF1. See:
https://www.gov.uk/register-for-self-assessment/self-employed
You could call call the NIC helpline:
