Royal Mail Redirection

Hey guys,

We moved into our new place on Friday and setup a mail redirect for Saturday onwards. We've still not received anything at our new address. RM quotes 24 hours on top of usual delivery times, does anyone have a y practical experience of this?

I'm not too fussed if it typically takes a few days to get going, I just want to make sure it's working!

Cheers in advance!

Anything redirected has been to your "old" sorting office first, and your old postie sticks the redirection label on - it goes back into the system and should be treated as first class from then on. So I'd only expect to receive anything already at best if it would otherwise have arrived on Saturday, and I expect Christmas post is already adding some delay to both steps.

Sometimes they hold the mail a little longer at the start of the process. In my experience re-directed mail comes a bit later than what you would usually get your mail.

Are you sure anyone has actually posted something to you ?
Most weeks, I only get two or three letters aside from the usual door to door junk.

Due to Covid we don't receive daily deliveries of mail. Now only 3 days a week.

Oh and yeah, we typically get something daily, especially this time of year, those random small catalogues with a small scarf for £250 or something, along eith the usual stuff like Boden, White Company etc that seem to come all the time!

When did you actually set it up?  Have you had any confirmation?  It takes five working days to arrange and they will write to you with a start date.

I paid for one month of redirection last April when we moved. I never got one redirected letter. Complained to Royal Mail and they gave us another month for free. Never got a single redirected letter then either. Gave up then as I'd changed addresses on everything in that time.
  • Post a letter to yourself and time how long it takes to arrive redirected... Would be interesting to see

Hmm, that's not very encouraging! Would you normally have received much?
