As sole traveller the most practical and safest way to to day 2 test seems to be to travel to/from airport by car and on return collect kit from a click and collect point, do the test in the car and take it straight into the drop off box at the click and collect point, then straight home. Seems better than mixing with ppl on trains/ buses

If I use public transport for my January holiday then I’ll probably still do the test by post, travel home using buses and a train, do my test then I think I’m allowed to go out again and drop it in the correct post box, go home and wait for the results.

You are allowed out to collect, deliver, post or take tests.

I’m holding off doing anything at the moment, I’ll see what the situation is after the next announcement on Dec 17th but I'm quite flexible, although I have an event 5 days after I get back from the Canary Islands so will have to find an option that gets me a quick result to release me from quarantine.

I suspect there are still more changes ahead in the next few weeks.

“What you can and cannot do in quarantine

    Getting or posting your tests

Where your testing provider conducts the day 2 and day 8 tests at a test site you can leave the house for your test. Where your tests are delivered and self-administered, if there is no one in your household or bubble who can post the test for processing, you can leave the premises to post your test.”

    Although not push the boundaries.

A neighbour took this as it being acceptable to go to the Post Office, stand in a busy queue for service and buy stamps for her Christmas cards at the same time as posting off her test samples.

Just how does that pose a greater risk than legitimately being able to use Public Transport from the Airport to Home and again to possibly post or deliver your Test package to a Drop Box and again returning home on Public Transport ?

Unnecessary mixing when you should be self quarantining and pending test results is going to carry a risk to others.

I would like to hope that more people be considerate and think of others. A small minority of people seem to be looking at flexible ways to circumnavigate the rules to suit their own ends, or worse, inciting others to be ignorant and ignore them.
