Chrome Bookmarks not syncing

Hi everyone,
I use Chrome on my windows laptop and have added/deleted bookmarks. My problem is that on my chromebook that uses the same sign in, the bookmarks are not syncing and updating to show the same as my laptop.
I have tried going into the settings and turning the sync on and off, but this makes no difference. I have even tried resetting the chromebook and powerwashing it like new. I've signed in and the bookmarks are the same as they were before.
Can anyone advise what i'm doing wrong please?
