Scam or glitch?
I received a letter from E-ON stating that they were handing over my debt to PRAC, followed by a letter from PRAC. However the dates of the supply period i had a “debt” for was the day after i moved out of my old address up until March the 1st. It stated i owed £154 for this period and that E-ON (PRAC’s client) has acquired the balance by a way of a debt sale from E-ON Energy Solutions Ltd. It then goes on to offer me a 65% discount offer of settlement! In which i would only have to pay £53.90. I called E-ON and they checked my account, they confirmed i didn't owe anything and didn't know anything about the letter i received they didn't seem bothered at all to be honest no apology or anything. Now i’m just wondering if it was a system glitch or if its some kind of scam? Its the discount part that seems fishy to me.

Yes, you're the third recent case; as well as the link Gerry1 gives there's this one:Looks as though EON have had a clear-out and PRAC is going fishing. You could send them a "prove it" letter as described in those other threads.N. In the first instance, just send the Prove It letter - as above, this is nothing to do with Eon, it’s a DCA trying it on, as they do! If you have any further issues (it’s likely you’ll hear no more) then post on the Debt Free Wannabe board for further advice.MH14 said:Oh not the only one then! If this has nothing to do with Eon, then surely it should be reported as a scam to Action Fraud.
