Compensation & Finance Agreement

Hi,
First post so apologies if this is in the wrong section, I'm looking for some advice on the following:
I ordered a sofa from DFS in October and was given a delivery date of 8th December.
Last week I received an email saying that there is a delay and the sofa will not be ready until the end of Feb (estimated).
I visited the branch to see if there was any way of expediting it.
I was told no, but offered the options of cancelling the order or accepting £200 compensation.
I opted for the latter and was told that the compensation amount would be deducted from the finance agreement (bought on 2 years 0%).
When I asked for a copy of the paperwork I was told there wasn't any, it was all on my account and the balance would be reduced by £200, meaning that the monthly payments would remain the same but the repayment term would be reduced.
I've never bought anything on finance before so accepted that explanation and left. However, having thought about it since, I can't believe that there wouldn't be some paperwork to sign, or at least have a copy of?
Is this normal? Will I receive an amended contract from the finance company? Or have I been "fobbed off" because as it stands I have no proof that the compensation offer was ever made!
Any info or advice gratefully received.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

They'll have effectively made a payment for you to the finance company and so no need for new financial papers to be drawn up (any more than if a relative decided to make a payment towards it as a house warming gift or such).
Whilst it'd be helpful to have documentary evidence that they've offered to pay the £200 in case the monies dont show up it becomes a moot point as soon as the account shows the reduction.0 -
Thanks for the reply, I don't have access to the account to view any transactions so I can't check.
I haven't made any payments yet as the first payment is not due until the sofa has been delivered.

I would have expected something from the store even if it's a hand written note on their letterhead/notepaper to say what was agreed. Date, signature.
