The bank account will be frozen on notification of the death. I presume you were a card holder rather than a joint account holder. The bank will allow funeral expenses to be paid from the account. The funeral director sent his invoice straight to the bank after I had given him a bereavement number that specifically applied to that account.0

If it was a joint account, it should be transferred into your name. You can use the money to pay all expenses (funeral, bills etc). However, if your sister is the Executor, it would be far better if she was a joint holder too or Mum makes you both Exors.
I made sure I paid all my late Mum's bills, by online banking, from the a/c I shared with Mum so a clear paper trail was kept.
Do you both have POA for Mum?0
