The website will only allow you so many pages within a small time frame. Give it 10 minutes or so, refresh, and it'll come back up.

I don't get much luck finding birds, either!

Experience from previous comps is you are much more likely to pickup birds if you leave ~ 1 hour before opening more links after finding a bird. - Also try to open and find a bird that isn't the daily clue before the daily clue and then you can get that one and the daily clue in short succession.
