Potentially Scammed

My partner purchased me a Xmas gift off onbuy.com. I have found out it’s a iPad. She looked on trust pilot first to see tons of positive reviews.
The iPad was due to be delivered today, and still nothing. We have contacted onbuy and the seller and get no response. After looking a bit further tons of people seems to have been scammed and they have faked Trust pilot reviews.
She paid via her debit card. How likely are we to get out money back. Am currently on hold to report it to Halifax as we speak. 1 hour on hold so far.
Can anyone offer some advice the best course of action.

Onbuy don't sell anything but a chargeback will fail if it hasn't been 30 days since the transaction took place if no delivery date was given or the delivery date has elapsed.
Them being a marketplace rather than a vendor could also muddy the waters.0 -
Don't waste time attempting a chargeback against Onbuy or against PayPal to whom you actually made payment. It will fail. Can anyone offer some advice the best course of action.
Onbuy website says 'If your order doesn't arrive use the PayPal Buyer Protection scheme, even if you paid by card or you don't have a PayPal account.'
The best course of action therefore is to go to the PayPal Resolution Centre. How to do this depends on how you paid and is detailed on the Onbuy website.
I believe PayPal are holding your payment in escrow until the goods have been delivered.0 -
It is NOT 30 days. It is 15 since the date of debit. Or sooner if you have proof of the actual delivery date.HeinzVarieties said:Onbuy don't sell anything but a chargeback will fail if it hasn't been 30 days since the transaction took place if no delivery date was given or the delivery date has elapsed.

While the OP said on a Halifax debit card, what does it say on the Halifax statement for the debit?Life in the slow lane0 -
It is for Mastercard. Sorry for assuming they had the same timescales given the general lack of published Visa chargeback rules on the internet (and I mean straight from the horses mouth rather than a third party.)born_again said:

Don't know why they can't keep to the same timescales

The rules are largely the same, hence my assumption that the 30-day rule is the same.born_again said:Don't know why they can't keep to the same timescales
