How do know if wireless disabled?

Hi all
Just got a wireless router with talktalk for use in future when I get a wireless laptop.
So I set it up using talktalk cd and wireless was not set up BUT, the WLAN light is illuminated on my router.
I don't want anyone using my connection. I though if I was using it wired and had not set up wireless it would be disabled?
What can I do to make sure my neighbours can't use my connection?

What make/model is the router?0 -
Hello,
From the information provided I am guessing that you are using a HG520s. If the WLAN light is Green and on then your router is broadcasting a wifi signal. There are two things you can do:
1. Run the Connect & Go CD and configure the wireless with security, the CD will automatically enable this and provide you with a key to access the wireless network.
2. Connect to the router and disable the WIFI, this can be done by following the below steps:
1. Connect to the router, open internet explorer and type the router address in the address bar 192.168.1.1
2. You will be asked for a User Name and Password, you should use the word admin for both, click "OK"
3. You will then see the Huawei screen click on "basic"
4. Click "Wireless Lan"
5. At the top of the page you will see an enable or disable button, click disable and then submit at the bottom of the page.
If you need any assistance with either please do not hesitate to ask

Thanks for that info. I'll have to go home and try that out. What drop down box do I disable it from btw? Is it under PVC-active-No?
