Claiming on insurance after positive test

Hi,
I'm due to fly out on holiday next Saturday. I have travel insurance which covers me for if I have to cancel after testing positive for covid.
I have taken an NHS lateral flow test at home and I am positive. Can I use this lateral flow test and subsequent confirmation on the NHS app/email as proof for my insurance claim? Or do I need to pay for a PCR test?
Thanks

What does the insurance policy say re tests?0

A medical certificate and an official covid test. Is an NHS lateral flow deemed an official covid test? And is the NHS app confirmation deemed a medical certificate?0

@Golfer1996 only you know what your policy says and whether they consider an NHS PCR test as proof but I certainly wouldn't expect them to be accepting an LFT

Aside from anything else I wouldn’t be cancelling holiday just on the basis of a LFT test. I’d definitely be wanting to double check with a PCR in the hope it was a false positive.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Why would you need to pay for a PCR test? If you've tested positive with a lateral flow test, you get a free PCR test on the NHS.Golfer1996 said:Hi,

ThanksLateral flow result will mean nothing to the insurance, I could log into the app and say i've had a positive lateral flow result without even taking the test.1 -
@Golfer1996
You need to get your NHS PCR test immediately- it has to be within 2 days of the positive lateral flow test0
