Cancelling flights booked with Virgin points

Has anyone had experience of this?  The cancellation would be my choice, based on the return of testing and possible associated restrictions. I have read through all the T&Cs and it seems that the points would be refunded and that I may be charged an 'admin fee', but I can't find anything which confirms whether or not the taxes paid would be refunded.  I can't get through to Virgin. I have sent a message via their website. They seem to have a terrible reputation at the moment for being impossible to contact!

Was your flight booked as refundable/flexible?

booked with points = its flexible...
if memory serves me correctly, if u change dates or cancel even, they charge £30 per ticket..
Although i changed a booking last month for next year, from LAX to Vegas (LAX = always plenty airmile seats, but LAS is far few and between!)...
My change cost me £1.80 for both of us......

Thank you. It wasn't a 'flexible' ticket as such, but I believe different rules do apply to rewards bookings.  I guess I could rebook for later in 2022, although I spoke to the friend I'm due to visit recently and she said the tests are not too onerous.  Just a bit annoying about the extra costs, though hopefully they won't be too high.  Still not clear on whether I would lose the taxes paid if I just decided to cancel (ie. not because of a flight schedule change or because the country is red listed, etc.).  I've booked a business ticket, so total taxes are a few hundred.  I've decided to do nothing until after Christmas as the trip isn't until end of January.  Who knows what rules and regs will be in place by then!
