  • This may be of interest to those who are receiving letters from Debt collection agencies regarding supposed EON debt.

  • Back again, they have sent me a reply from my 'prove it' letter.  They say they have noted my comments from my recent correspondence, however.. "if you believe that the debt is not yours then please provide us with evidence to support this - such as a checkout report, council tax bill, new tenancy agreement or property sale, any email or correspondence of final meter reads"

I do have a statement from Eon with my estimated final bill and the last date i was there (one day before they are claiming for), but my next bill at my new address doesn't really show any dates etc for any moving in / out days.
Are they just fishing again for my admitance of living there 'so it must be my debt' ? .. should i respond with my final estimated bill and the affected address, or is it still in my favour to tell THEM to prove guilt rather than me prove innocence?

You have set out your position in the "prove it" letter, there is nothing more that you need to do. If you feel the need to respond, then refer them to Arkell-v-Pressdram (1971). Personally, I would ignore any further correspondence on the matter unless it came directly from the courts.
