In terms of the timescale I'm not sure about the job in a Yaris but my mechanic did the clutch in my Golf in 2 hours which is a similarly priced job at a dealer. He does them regularly and knows all the ways to get it done fast. Doesn't always work if a bolt is seized but for a smooth job it can be done in that time.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

To do a good job of taking other parts out and putting them back takes time and patience. Doing it yourself is the only way. After a garage has done a big job it is never quite the same again.

I have noticed on doing a three point turn that something sort of clips under the wheels as though i have driven over a ridge.....i can feel every single bump in the road...there is a sort of slight vibrating, rattly noise coming from the front as though the windscreen is loose...obviously it is not and i can even feel it ticking over at lights etc.....with a slight vibration going through me that was never there before

Problems when turning are likely to be steering, suspension or driveshaft or possibly a loose front wheel, try tightening the wheel nuts. Feeling every bump, stiff suspension? Rattly noise, rattling concurrent with engine speed or road surface?. Lumpy tickover, possibly due to poorly fitted breather pipes or a poorly fitted engine mount.  You need to take it back with a list of what's changed. If its not resolved try asking the other clutch fitter or a trusted mechanic for an assessment. Hopefully it'll just need minor adjustment or tightening.

  • thank you everyone.  i really appreciate your help.
