Pure Planet

Hi, we took Martins advice back in October and switched to Sainsbury's energy. The switch completed on the day Pure Planet went under. Our account shows we were in credit with them by over £400. Despite this pure Planet took another direct debit making the credit bigger.
I've tried to ask for it back and they suggest I approach my bank as that may be quicker. The whole story is more complicated since I've been wrangling with Pure Planet for over a year to have the account put in my mother's name following the death of my father. The account currently shows a credit of over £1900 due to a possess called back billing! 
Is my money safe?

    I was with pure planet and was switched to shell, i didn’t cancel my direct dept as advice. I am now being charged twice for October November and December 2021 by shell how can I sort this problem out thanks

    I am not sure if it is "safe" 

    I have looked at the Ofgem site and Price Waterhouse Cooper sites and it looks like credit balances were safe if transferred to Shell Energy on 27th October.

    If you transferred out to another supplier before this happened you may have to contact PWC and raise this with them. It may be worth getting advice from Ofgem as well.

    Did you really get two invoices from Shell and Pure Planet, which charged twice implies, or did you get one invoice from Shell, and they want it paid even so you still had the direct debit taken by Pure Planet?

    Have you received a final bill from Pure Planet already? If there is a credit on your final bill that would reflect onto your account with Shell.

  • I started my switch from Pure Planet in September, two weeks before they went under and I was well in credit. I received a cheque from Shell Energy in February for the full amount with no prompting or chasing.

    I was expecting some issue, given my switch was taking place as they went into administration, and that I expected Shell to deal with their new customers accounts first.

    I am in the same position peter120 and have written to Shell to ask them why they want to charge me 'twice'. Took screenshots of my bank statements with the Pure Planet direct debits clearly showing when writing to them. Awaiting reply currently.

    First post is an old one again.
    Interstingly, I was £400odd pounds in credit with PP (which was absorbed by Shell) but PP continued collecting the DDs until December. On my first Shell bill in February 2022, Shell invoiced me from October NOT taking into account those PP collections, so I have written to them about this. PP never issued me with a final bill.

    I had the same. I contacted shell, they asked for proof. Luckily I was able to log into pure planets still working portal and show the payments. They sorted it out within 2 days.
