Hi, I work in a care home, we have some Mitchell and brown TVs dotted about in some of the rooms, sometimes the remotes get lost, broken ect, so the solution is to buy a one for all remote, now there’s a little button on the side of the tv that turns it on so I can then programme the remote which I have done successfully, now, as per the instructions with the remote, you then are supposed to use the channel select button until the tv turns off, then enter the magic key and all is stored, what’s happening is as soon as I press the key the tv switches off and won’t switch on with the remote, you have to turn the tv on with the button on the tv, then the remote works perfectly every function is available, it will even switch the tv off, it just won’t switch on again ( unless I use the button on the tv) , I’ve used a genuine m& b remote from other rooms and it turns on/off, and works as it should, I tried programming the one for all on a couple of other m& b TVs with the same result, one for alls generally work well on other ( branded ) TVs, but not on these, does anyone know of a solution to this..?

I'm assuming Mitchell & Brown is this? The website says "Built by Europe’s largest TV manufacturer, who design and manufacture TV’s for almost every major brand around the world", which automatically tells me they are going to be rebranded Vestel models, since the only companies that make their own sets are Samsung, Sony and LG. Everything else is usually Vestel in new packaging. So to answer the original question, this usually means the remote has the wrong code in it, so the TV may not be what you think it is. Need to get the model number off the back and see what it really is, or see if there are Vestel codes in the programming guide.0

Ok, thanks, I’ll have a look at that on Monday0

The alternative is to contact M&B directly and see what they suggest.
They appear to be geared towards hotels and the like where I'm sure that remotes have a habit of walking and getting damaged more often than in a domestic environment so I'd guess they'd have a process for replacing themNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Well I had a look at another m&b tv and it is a vestal one, I’ve also looked in the one for all code book and vestal is listed, just haven’t had time today0
