EDF Deemed Tariff

Hi, I've just moved house and the supplier in my new property is EDF. I am on a Deemed Tariff at the moment, is that the same as the Standard Variable? I presume that is what we should be on at the moment rather than a new fix? When I try to register it is wanting me to choose a 2 year fix with a £300 termination! I don't want to fix with EDF at the moment. Can I just stay on the Deemed Tariff if it is the same price as the Standard Variable? Thanks.

Yes, they're the same.  Just give them your name, address, date of taking possession, opening readings and DD info.
Don't sign up to any fixed tariff, do nothing and you'll stay on the capped SVT which is as good as it gets at the moment.

Think you save around 5% paying by DD but you won’t be able to sign up to DD unless you have agreed a tariff, the deemed standard will be the same rates as standard variable but without the DD saving.

Ofgem do not permit this, so if they are not letting you set up a DD without a fixed tariff then complain.

You can set up DD on the standard variable which is not a fixed tariff.

Great stuff, thank you all. I'll keep it at that then, see what happens in April with the cap.
