Highest Direct Debit for 2 bedroom flat

Hello @matchplayerIf the billing up to date is based on actual meter readings then you have no alternative but to plan to pay the supplier for the energy used. You could suggest spreading the £702.89 arrears over 12 months so it would be £58.58 per month. For the projected spend over next 12 months, you need to find the readings from 12 months ago, subtract them from the latest readings and then calculate how much that energy will cost at current rates. Don't forget to include the standing charges. You may also need to adjust the energy for 365 days usage if the bills from a year ago and latest are not exactly a year apart. Then you can make your counter offer based on your calculated cost for next 12 months, plus spreading the arrears over 12 months. The next challenge is to use less energy. Not easy with an electric boiler feeding a wet radiator system. Use the controller to make sure the system is only heating the place when you need it to. If the radiators have thermostatic control valves, adjust them downward. If you are heating rooms you don't use, shut the radiator off and shut the door. You probably have a separate hot water tank with an immersion heater in it. Only switch that on when you need water for a bath. Best of luck.0

2 bed new build, South West, all electric, 9kw boiler, badly installed under floor heating (NHBC involved with various issues & everything possible done to get heating working as best as possible without actually digging the floors up & starting again!).
we use 10 - 11k kwh per year, summer use £70'ish & winter can be as high as £300.
That was based on last years prices 0.14p/kwh 0.18p service charge, now with BritishGas Welcome tariff SOLR from NeonReef, new rates 0.22p/kw 0.26p standing charge.
We'll go from £1600 last year to £2200 on current tariff.0 -
That was with Together Energy Economy 7 Tariff, 22p per Kw/h & T2 @ 14p per Kw/h & Daily Standing Charge of 26p. The last Bill as of Jan 22nd 2022 shows Day 814 kWh @ .2204p & Night 781 Units @ .1432 = £291.25 plus SC of £8.11 (31 days)
Now been switched to British Gas, phoning them today for the switch over. Together Energy have now lost £400 of extra payments I made, would have been £500 but I cancelled the direct debit for the extra £100pm. Fingers crossed how British gas will work with me regarding the arrears which I can prove have been paid but not credited. Even tried request with the bank as its fraud in my mind to take the money & not apply it to the account. Anyway based on the new tariffs looks like the monthly winter bill will be approx. £396 pm I complained for 10 months to get the meter inspected, wiring checked. Hopefully better luck with British Gas & even just ask for a pre payment meter installed?
Take that night units used, 781. when I asked when Night rate was they said 11pm to 6am, so 7 hours per night. Multiply by 31 nights and that would be 217 possible hours. so to use all that means 3.59 units each & every hour. or 25.13 every night. The heating goes off at 9pm & comes back on at 5.30am so should only account for 30 mins use. Something far wrong. Plus we have taken meter readings every few hours on different days & it shows T1 getting used during the night & T2 going up during the day. Very annoyed at the lack of support from now defunct Together Energy.

Definitely within the range of reasonable use for a 2-bed flat with wet electric heating.
Economy 7 gives seven hours of cheap rate per day. That's what it does. However the times do vary (sometimes absurdly so). The only way to be sure it to wait up at night to see it turn on, then get up again in the morning to see it switch off.Take that night units used, 781. when I asked when Night rate was they said 11pm to 6am, so 7 hours per night.
781 / 31 is indeed ~25, but (as I mentioned above) that doesn't mean that you're only using it for 30 minutes. your timeswitch could be out of sync.matchplayer said:Take that night units used, 781 ... 25.13 every night. Be careful what you wish for. If the problem turns out to be that your timeswitch needs adjusting (and that is exactly what you are describing), you'll end up paying 22p/kWh for most of those 25kWh/day rather than 14p. That's an extra £2/day, £60/month.Something far wrong. Plus we have taken meter readings every few hours on different days & it shows T1 getting used during the night & T2 going up during the day.
