Options for buying a car from a faraway dealership with no home delivery option

Easiest option is to reserve it online/over the phone, drive old car down, drive new car back up and accept that if anything is wrong with it you're paying for it yourself or finding a way to get a non-runner back down to England. You can always try and get something like an AA/RAC inspection done ahead of you driving down, or if you're a member of a car club seeing if there's anyone local can go and have a look at it for you. Asking about reviews of the dealership from people locally might be useful too.If you're particularly concerned, you can always hire a car buying service to take care of it for you. You give them the specs you want, they source you the car and you pay them with some commission.
Or if you just want the car with all the risk, buy the car outright online and hire someone to drive/trailer it up to you.1 -

That might be a more practical option than me getting up at silly hours to the dealership myself. Got any recommendations for car buying services? I'm looking around myself but I would appreciate any suggestions if you or those around you know any.
