hi,
i started selling on ebay very recent and i cant find anywhere what the % ebay takes from the end of the sale as i sold a dvd for £1.90 and my end sale was 1.36! do they really take that much and is it a flat % on every item you sell or is it different?
also i have no idea how some charge 99p for a DVD etc and sell it free postage!
thanks very much in advance for any help or advice

They probably sell a huge quantity and get a good discount on the postage. If your going to make a full time business
to live on then you may need to look into that if you want to make any money. Can you compete with sellers that
have the items on your doorstep for 99p? They may have bought them for less than 1penny each also.
Depending on your sales a shop maybe worthwhile. Having your own website can attract buyers also but dont
advertise the website in the listing. Your email address should be the same as the website.
So your myshop1111111111.com will have an email ebay@myshop1111111111.com. I look at that and imagine
many other buyers will. Save a few pennies if they buy direct from your site. Far better than having a generic
gmail address.
For CD's I think you may struggle unless you have a plan that pushes your items above and beyond everyone else.

Ebay FVFs for a private seller are;
Final value fees
You pay one final value fee for items you sell on eBay, and you don't have to worry about third party payment processing fees.
The final value fee is calculated as 12.8% of the total amount of the sale (which includes the item price, postage, taxes and any other applicable fees), plus a fixed charge of 30p per order.It really does pay to check the fees before you list, it is really not worth selling very low cost items on ebay so perhaps consider selling in bulk lots or just donating to a charity shop.
