Afternoon all.
Does anybody know where I can get a really strong curtain pole for a 5 sided bay. My current one is useless. Looks great but can't draw the curtains!
It's one of those where the rings have a gap thats supposed to allow them to pass over the brackets. They just keep getting stuck. My cutains are very heavy, floor to ceiling and It's a high ceiling. Hence I need a strong well made rail.
Thanks

I went to a local stainless steel fabrication place and got them to bend some 1" (25mm) polished stainless tubing. After a bit of cutting & marking, they welded some brackets on (and did a very neat job). Including materials that I supplied, total cost was around £80. Now that it is up, the rail is very sturdy and just doesn't compare to the "kits" you get from the likes of B&Q or John Lewis.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -

It might be worth trying a bit of PTFE spray lubricant or silicone lubricant before throwing out the current pole.
We will be hanging some heavy curtains from the ordinary aluminium rail from John Lewis. Most of the strength is in the brackets so it might be worth getting extra ones for whatever rail you buy.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
Swish metal curtain rails are very good for this, they need to be bent by local agent who should have the special formers for this.1

We have a Swish metal track on our 3 sided bay. I’m very pleased with it. My Dad fitted it and had to make special wooden forms to bend the track to the correct shape, so I would say you need to be a very competent DIYer or hire a pro to fit it.

We had curtain track (not pole as OP wanted) made for 6 sided bay. It is electric, so had to be smooth running. It had to be bent at the main suppliers prem, and it took 8 attempts to get right. Only 4 attempts to fit, as the others were obviously wrong.
Very happy with the result though.1 -
Maybe try spraying with furniture polish1

We ended up using the older version of IKEA Vidgahttps://www.ikea.com/gb/en/search/products/?q=vidga
We needed something that could be hung from the lower ceiling in the bay window but wrap around onto the walls at the edge of the bay. They have fittings that can be either ceiling or wall mounted. The key thing I liked though was the fact that the curtain hangs from a wheeled track at the bottom of the rails.
They only do 90 degree bends but with the way it fits together I don't see why you couldn't cut the bends down to any angle you want.
With a bit of PTFE spray ours is super smooth.
Hope this helps1
