Sending message on Facebook Marketplace

Trying to send messages to sellers on FB marketplace but the circle next to my message stays at a plain grey circle!? I was able to send messages previously. No error message. Any ideas please?

Are you running the latest version of Facebook?
They are constantly updating it and I often have problems with it if there is a newer version available that I haven't downloaded.0
