Amazon trade in promo not allowed

I wanted to get the Echo show 8 for £79.99 (£40 off) during their Black Friday deal period, but when I went to purchase I noticed they were giving 25% off the device, plus a £5 gift card when you trade in a another echo device. I decided to send them an echo dot that wasn’t much use to me to then be able to get 25% off the Echo show. A week passed and I didn’t receive anything and noticed the price went back up to £119.99 today so I contacted them asking where my trade in response was and also if they would honour the price at the time of my trade in. I swiftly received an email with my £5 gift card and 25% off the new device, HOWEVER I’m only able to get the 25% off the new higher price, which makes the whole trade in process a financially negative thing for me to have done, plus I’m an echo dot down. I’m guessing I wasn’t the only person who has fallen foul of Amazon’s rather strange offer that should never have been offered during their Black Friday deals. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • It would appear that the offer was in error when made. So you need to decide if you still wish to proceed under the corrected offer or if you wish to have your old echo back and return the voucher. You can not force them to continue when this was a clear error
  • The trade in offer isn't anything new, it is on all the time.  It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that getting the voucher and discount code might take longer than the very limited time that the Black Friday deal is on.  After all they ddo have to physically check the returned product.

This isn't any kind of error, you still have the 25% off and the £5 voucher as you were promised.  This wasn't connected with the Black Friday offer.
