Bulb email
Hi I am currently paying for my electric & gas monthly with Bulb. They have stated that I am £9.33 in debit with them & want to put up my payment by over 100% ,is there anything I can do . They have agreed not to put up payments until after my next reading is submitted. My problem is that I have had to give up work to be came a full time carer & can not afford it
Many thanks in advance

Do your readings bear out the need for an increase? Are you submitting them readings regularly (at least monthly) if not - as that will give you something to use to explain why it's not needed.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Unfortunately the cost of energy has been rising recently, so it is quite likely that even if your DD was covering your costs a few months ago, if may not be doing that any more.Take a look at your most recent bill and you should see on their an estimate of your annual energy use, look at the current rates for your tariff and calculate what it will cost for a year, divide by 12 and see how that compares to your current DD.If you need any help just give us the details and we'll run the numbers for you.0

Only £9.33? Why would they want to increase the DD by 100%? The only reason I can think of is you recently joined them in the summer and you underestimated your usage. I was paying bulb £67 a month until I left them building up a credit of £900.
If appliances aren't on, in standby mode, then turn them off at the socket that will cut down your kWh consumption even if only by 20%. Only three items require to be on 24/7 and one of them you could turn off at bedtime and they are the fridge, freezer & router. Modern stuff is so reliant on standby drawing much more power than the instruction manual claims.
Try turning the heating down to between 18 C and 20 C. Buy a hot water bottle and use that when you feel slightly cold. A flask for hot water or a hot beverage means you're not turning the kettle on as often.Someone please tell me what money is0
