Central locking problems

Hey people,
I have a problem with my car doors that they don't open externally. All the doors except the driver door opens. I noticed when driving the doors used to automatically lock and it just makes a weird sound.
I have been told that it's an electrical fault as it drained the car battery and I had it replaced. I have a Seat Leon 2008.
Does anyone know what it could be and how much am I looking at in terms of cost?
Thanks

Not 100% sure what exactly the issue is as you say "they don't open externally" and then "all the doors except the drivers door opens".MenInBlack said:Hey people,

However, the automatic door locking is a safety feature which from recollection, can be deactivated if you want to.
Who told you it was an electrical fault? Did they test the various circuits to check which one had a drain and fix it as putting a new battery on the car without resolving the underlying issue doesn't make a lot of sense.
In fact if there is still a drain, allowing the new battery to drain can damage the battery.0 -
VAG (Seat, VW, Audi and Skoda) had some problems with the door modules (door locks).
The forums are full of owners suffering the same thing.
Some have got by with lubing up the modules with WD40.
I seem to think some owners swapped their modules with a slightly different module, specific to EU models.
There are plenty of posts on the Seat forums and some vids on Youtube that might help like this one

I called rac up as the car wouldn't start and broke down at home. The rac guy did a diagnostic and came to that conclusion.
I wasn't at home at the time. But my brother is also saying the locks could have caused the battery drain.
I will take it to a garage and see what he says.
Thanks for the replies guys. It won't let me reply to individual posts0
