My daughter is travelling to Southern Ireland on Monday and today it has been announced that (from Friday) you have to produce evidence of a negative PCR within 72 hours or a negative Antigen test within 48 hours. The rules due stipulate "Antigen tests have to be carried out by approved professionals - you can't test yourself.". There are a multitude of companies offering testing and we have found one local that does a certificate of negative test but it states it is "supervised" on site .
For Antigen testing, you will arrive at the sampling station and receive a physical kit. The test will be a self administered under the supervision of the trained professional(s) on site. After waiting for 15mins for the test process to be complete the trained professional(s) will then photograph and submit your test and your certificate will be available to download from the TrustOne portal.

Any thought as to whether this would be acceptable?

any help greatfully appreciated, sorry to jump on the back of the ops post

Stephen, you have asked the same question three times, once is enough. Your problem is likely to arise from a new rule, expected to be announced later today that the US will require the test to be taken within 24 hours not 72 hours before arrival. Assuming you have booked the testing advance of that, it will be fine for Ireland but not for the US. You need to watch for the change later today, there is also a rumour, but far less likely, that you may need to self isolate on arrival in the US for 7 days in which case there will be mass cancellations so I expect that will not happen

Thanks for the reply and the heads up on the possible new timeframe for testing being required, i'll keep an eye on the news today and if it changes i'll try to move my supervised hom test date to within 24 hrs , so all being well if i can do this the suopervised at home antigen test will be fine to get me into Ireland as well as the USA as it currently stands?

       Thanks

The change I predicted has been announced, all arrivals from the beginning of next week must have taken the test within a day of arrival in the US

Thanks for the heads up yesterday, i've changed my supervised antigen test to the day before we travel yesterday so hopefully that should be good enough for entry to Ireland on the same day while transiting
