Dividing attic room with sloped ceiling

I have an attic room I'd like to divide in 2. The ceiling is low and sloped so I was thinking maybe I could attach rails or hooks along each side of the ceiling to hang fabric that would meet at the apex. Note that while I'll need access between the two spaces, the fabric won't need to be drawn back regularly so I don't really need a fully functioning curtain rail.
Has anyone ever done this before? If so, a few questions
What would be the easiest method to hang the fabric?
Is it possible to get asymmetrical panels made to measure, possibly with a tab top and if so any recommendations? Ideally I'd like a reasonably heavy fabric to exclude draughts. I could cut something to size but have no access to a sewing machine so don't think it is practical to DIY.
OR is there a better option that I haven't considered?

Hanging fabric is almost the ideal medium for fire to start and spread rapidly.
You'd be better off, particularly in terms of reducing draughts, to consider a properly constructed partition wall with plasterboard and a doorway. But even with this you would still need to give consideration to whether there is satisfactory means of escape in the event of fire.

Thanks for the response I didn't want to make my description too complicated but this is actually to close over the end of a mezzanine floor (to prevent drafts in the room below the mezzanine) so there is no need for access through the divider. The room itself has access from the other end and is only used for storage as the ceiling is really too low for anything else.
The room is occassionally accessed from below via a ladder when we want to put items up into the storage area, hence the need for some limited access. In the summer I'd like to take the barrier down as it will make the room below feel airier. I'd also prefer to go with a temporary solution for now as we're not sure what the long term plans for the space will be.0 -
There should be no mystery to doing this job. Almost any manner of rail can support this, and every locality will have a good number of talented seamstressesers who'll knock up a lovely set of material dividers to your spec. Ask on Faceache.A little thought could have them lift-upable using cords and pulleys, like a skew-whiff Venetian blind.(No technical terms were mangled in the making of this reply.)2

If you have the talent to sew this, but lack a sewing machine, you can probably get one for £50 or so from the supermarket from time to time. I assume that you would pay a good deal more than that to have them made up.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
